Roadside Lights In Vigo, Spain Let Pedestrians Know When It Is Safe To Cross the Street

A series of lights that line the road in Vigo, Spain take an innovative approach to pedestrian traffic, turning green when it’s safe to cross the street, flashing when time is running out and changing to red when vehicles are permitted to drive through. In other spots in Spain, you’ll see an animated figure letting you know when it’s okay to cross the paso de cebra — the Spanish phrase for crosswalk, which translates into “zebra crossing,” named for the striped animal.
