Alameda-based company Rideable Bicycle Replicas makes beautiful working replicas of hiwheeler bicycles (aka penny-farthings) and other unique bicycles, tricycles, recumbents, surreys and tandems. They have been making antique bike replicas since 1973 and have customized pieces for Disney, various movies, schools and other business.

A description of the business from owner, Greg Barron:

We are primarily builders of antique style cycles and parts from the 19th century (1870-1890) but we also do custom bikes and trikes as well as custom wheels of up to and over 6 feet tall for many different applications. Other things we do include custom cycle spokes up to 4 feet long, art installations and art cars as well as many other replica vehicles and conveyances including the occasional old car or motorcycle. Solid rubber tire installation and antique cycle restoration.

Built for the Movie “Wild Wild West” and sold by Sotheby’s to The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama.
