Redditors Surprise Kids’ Cancer Ward By Sending Lots of Pizzas

In April, 2-year-old Hazel (who has the adorable nickname of “Hazelnut“) was diagnosed with Stage 3 Neuroblastoma, a cancer that requires her to receive 18 months of treatment at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. To have some fun and to pass some time, Hazel, with the help of her family, taped up a sign on the window of her fourth floor room that read “Send Pizza, Room 4112.” Within hours a photo of the window sign was posted to reddit by ashortstorylong, where it hit the front page, and redditors wasted no time sending lots of pizzas to the children’s cancer ward. Hazel’s mother writes, “Hazel woke up from her nap to the smell of pizza and was so excited to chow down! Several other children and nurses came into the room, with music playing, and had themselves a wonderful Pizza Party. As of yesterday evening, there was more than 20 boxes delivered.” They can no longer accept more pizzas but, if you’d like to help, monetary donations to Hazel’s fund are being taken online by her family.
