In the latest animation from the PBS series Blank on Blank, Ray Charles talks about the importance of being true to yourself in this 1987 interview with Joe Smith. Smith, a retired music executive, interviewed Charles and more than 200 music industry luminaries in the late 1980s for a book entitled Off The Record. The tapes from his interviews now reside at the Library of Congress and can be played online. The Blank on Blank animation is by Patrick Smith.
