Rare Footage of Jerry Lewis’ Notorious Unreleased Holocaust Film, The Day the Clown Cried

This short clip includes never-before-seen footage of The Day the Clown Cried, a 1972 Holocaust drama directed by Jerry Lewis, in which the comedian starred as a German clown who is sent to a concentration camp by the Nazis. Production problems, poor responses by test audiences, and Lewis’ dissatisfaction with the film prevented it from being released (Lewis has repeatedly said it will never be seen by the public). The short clip, which was posted to Belgian website Cobra.be in 2012, includes actual takes from the film as well as behind-the-scenes footage.
