Professional mountain bike trials rider and ex-world champion Martyn Ashton teamed up with fellow riders Danny MacAskill and Chris Akrigg to create “Road Bike Part 2.” All three riders perform incredible stunts on a Colnago C59 Disc bike while taking on creatively built courses in this sequel to Martyn’s successful “Road Bike Party” video from 2012. The riders all use Colnago’s C59 Disc bike. Unfortunately, in the middle of shooting, Martyn suffered a spinal injury during a bicycle trials demo on Sunday, September 1st, 2013 at Silverstone’s Moto GP. According to Red Bull, he “dislocated his T9 and T10 vertebrae, leaving him a paraplegic and in a wheelchair.”
“It’s a brilliant collection – you can lose the fact that we’re on a road bike as it just looks like a great piece of riding. The first Road Bike Party was all about it being a road bike but this one, the road bike doesn’t get a chance – the stuff that we do collectively is beyond what would be ‘normal’ for a trials bike. It’s exceptional.”
