The good folks at RVIP Lounge have provided some valuable pre-flight “transportainment” (transportation + entertainment) information for their mobile karaoke lounge at SXSW 2012. Their pre-flight video was inspired by Disneyland attraction, Star Tours.
The RVIP Lounge is all about giving the people what they want–which is apparently non-stop karaoke and a free ride–so that’s what we’ve always given them. This year we think they want more, so we’re bringing it; all we ask is that you, in turn, bring it and sing your face off.
Here’s what we’ve got going for SXSW in 2012:
1. More Party
There was a moment in 2011 outside the Twitter party when the Angry Birds guys literally tried to climb in the window. We wanted them to come in–they were specifically invited–but it was so packed that we could not physically fit another person inside, let alone move the RV. That night convinced us that we should throw a bigger party, so this year we’re bringing TWO customized RVs.
Our new RV (“Biggie”) is a 37 foot CAT Diesel with three rooms of fun, including a karaoke lounge, a miniature Graceland, two magic carpets, and an outpost of W XYZ bar.
Our original 27 foot RV (“Smalls”) has been improved and renovated. It has a new bar in the back room and awesome exterior light panels that make it look like a glowing rubix cube. Check it out in the video. We’ll be going late every night of SXSWi.
2. A Daytime Spa
After staying out all night, we’re always too wrecked in the daytime to actually attend the conference. What we really want to do is sit back with cucumbers on our eyes, listen to soothing music, and get a shoulder massage. We figured others felt the same.
SPA{CE}, conceived and executed by Local Mind, is a day spa where attendees can recharge their bodies, their souls, and their laptops. The vodka red bulls and screaming karaoke marathons of the night time parties are replaced with free massages, fresh juice, healthy snacks, and quiet live string performances.
3. Music
This year we’re staying for the entire music festival, thanks to Aloft Hotels.
Getting a good crowd during Interactive has always been easy, since our party is more fun that whatever people are waiting in line for. Music is different, since people are actually waiting to see a bands that they like. This year we hit on a solution: we’ll book mind-blowing bands to play shows inside the RV. Some details will be announced last-minute, and some will not be announced at all. Hop on and try your luck.
We’re internetters at heart, so if you come on-board during Interactive and get a sticker for your badge you’ll have an easier time getting on during the insanity of Music.
