‘Pop Up Men’, A Look at the Frigid Work of New York City’s Christmas Tree Street Vendors

The mini documentary “Pop Up Men” features director Christopher Ming Ryan spending some time with Jamie Johnson and David Chigers, two Pennsylvania men who sell Christmas trees on the streets of New York City in November and December. Like their fellow Christmas tree street vendors, Johnson and Chigers endure freezing temperatures and spartan accommodations (the duo camps in their van for the duration of the job.) But despite their hardships, Johnson and Chigers are surprisingly upbeat about their unusual seasonal occupation. The video was produced by Wheelhouse Communications.
