Pill Popped Op Art, Scott Blake’s Self-Portrait in Ecstasy

In 2002, artist Scott Blake of Barcode Art created his digital self-portrait using images of hundreds of ecstasy pills. He gathered these images from DanceSafe, a nonprofit organization that promotes safety in the rave community. Ecstasy is MDMA, a mood-elevating drug that is often taken recreationally. Blake, a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia, is probably best known for his Op art using barcodes.
