Taiwanese photographer Will Ho took these breathtaking photos of bioluminescent organisms blanketing a beach in the Maldives. Ho describes them as bioluminescent phytoplankton, but Cornell University biology professor James Morin identifies them as bioluminescent ostracods, a kind of tiny crustacean (see his comment here).
