Photos: A Bartending Demo at 1901, An Exclusive Disneyland Lounge

An Ice Ball & Bartending Demo at Disneyland's 1901 Lounge

During my recent visit to Carthay Circle Restaurant at Disneyland’s California Adventure Park, Disneyland Resort’s Manager of Social Media and Print, Erin Glover, arranged for me to attend a demonstration on how they make the crystal clear ice balls that they use in their Manhattans. To my delight, the demonstration ended up taking place in 1901, the exclusive, members-only 1930s style lounge found at the restaurant’s ground level (named for Walt Disney’s birth year). Not only did I get to learn about how they make ice balls, I was also treated to a fantastic bartending lesson presented by 1901 bartender and actor James Silverman. He cranked out a beautiful round ice sphere from their (non-electric, aluminum alloy) machine and then made a Manhattan, a Brandy Alexander and a mojito for me to sample (all delicious!). If you’re making a trip there, not to worry, the ice ball (and drinks) are also available at the public lounge found at Carthay Circle.

Here’s a look at the images I captured that afternoon at 1901 lounge:
