Photobooth, San Francisco Portrait Studio Makes 19th Century Tintypes

Photobooth

Photobooth

Photobooth is a new portrait photography studio in San Francisco that specializes in Polaroids and tintypes, an early photography process popular during the mid to late 1800’s. During the studio’s recent opening, photographer Jonathan Fleming documented the tintype process from beginning to end, as demonstrated by Michael Shindler, the studio’s in-house tintype photographer. Polaroid portraits at the studio are created by photographer Vince Donovan.

Tintype portraits at Photobooth are an experience unlike any other. We craft your image onto individually-prepared metal plates, reproducing exactly the photographic processes of the mid-19th centure.
