Passenger Successfully Raises Funds to Help Dying Detroit Uber Driver Save His Family Home

Ken Wayne Broskey and Roland Gainer

When passenger Roland Gainer learned that his Uber driver Ken Wayne Broskey, who should have been under hospice care rather than driving a car, was trying to save his family house so that his daughter and her family would be cared for after his death, the good samaritan decided immediately that he wanted to step up and help his driver reach his goal. Gainer set up a fundraising page and raised over $100,000 over the course of just 10 days. Now that Broskey’s house is paid for and Mr. Broskey can rest a bit easier, they are no longer accepting further donations, but encourage people to contribute to other causes.

We have reached our goal (including the fee for Go Fund Me), and thank everyone for the generous outpouring of support. As a result, we will be able to save Ken’s house for his daughter and grandchildren. Because we have achieved our goal, and there is such great need in all of our communities, we are declining further donations to allow other causes to be supported. We sincerely thank and appreciate everyone for their contributions. We ask that you keep Ken in your prayers, and we will keep you up-to-date!
