Parking Meter Collects Donations For Local Charities

Parking Meter for Charity

While in Dayton, OH last Friday, we met up with some old friends at a few bars located at The Greene in Beavercreek. While parking the car I came a cross a unique parking meter, part of the Change for Charity Meter Program that collects donations for The Greene Community Foundation Fund, a non-profit providing youth and family support in the greater Miami Valley area.

Living in San Francisco, this is quite a welcome sight, since we’re used to paying quarter for two minutes on a meter which serves as a revenue device for the city. Having the funds go directly to charity helps benefit both the businesses near the parking (there is more incentive to park longer), as well as the local community.
