Other America is a 12-part series of short documentaries about the United States by UK-born, New York City-based filmmaker James Coulson. Coulson embarked on the project as way to better know his adopted homeland, and in particular, the culture that exists outside what he calls “Brand America,” the mainstream depiction of the country popularized by advertising and the media (Coulson works in both industries). The films are currently being released every two weeks, and four are already available.
