New York City’s 113-Year-Old Sidewalk Clock

For more than a century, a clock has been embedded in the sidewalk in Lower Manhattan. Local jeweler William Barthman installed the clock outside his store at Broadway and Maiden Lane in 1899 as an advertising gimmick. With the exception of a redesign in 1940, the clock has remained relatively unchanged to the present day. Wristwatch site Hodinkee provides the full history of the clock in this article & video.
