New Bicycle Path in the Netherlands Has a Glowing Surface Inspired by Van Gogh’s ‘The Starry Night’

Van Gogh Starry Night Glowing Bicycle Path

The newly opened Van Gogh Bicycle Path in the Dutch town of Nuenen is lit at night by glowing patterns in the path surface that are inspired by The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. A solar panel next to the path provides energy to illuminate a special paint covering the path’s surface. The .6-mile-long bike path is part of the Smart Highway project by Studio Roosegaarde and Heijmans Infrastructure. We previously posted about the first phase of the project–a glow in the dark highway in the Netherlands.
