‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ Creator Joel Hodgson Turns to Kickstarter to Bring Back the Cult Film-Riffing Series

In the not-too-distant future Mystery Science Theater 3000 could return to television. Series creator Joel Hodgson has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to produce new original feature-length episodes of the cult film-riffing classic with a new host.

Hodgson hopes a successful campaign will demonstrate to television executives that fans would like to see MST3K find a new home at a network, cable channel, or streaming service after the Kickstarter-funded episodes.

Backers can claim online access to episode premieres, downloads, and updates. There are also high-end rewards including producer credits, appearances on the show, and even the opportunity to write for an episode.
