“Mother Earth Sister Moon” is an enormous inflatable version of the spacesuit worn by the first woman to travel into space, cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova. The spacesuit features a tent-like interior that visitors can enter. The installation has been exhibited 3 times since its debut in 2009. In each exhibition, the spacesuit serves as a venue for Soviet-themed fashion shows, films, and other performances. It is currently on display at the Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, Poland, through May 19, 2013. “Mother Earth Sister Moon” is a collaborative work by artists Joanna Malinowska and Christian Tomaszewski.
