The New York Times reports that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority is investigating articulated trains, which have no doors between cars, for future use in the New York City subway system. Articulated trains allow passengers to move from car to car, which eases overcrowding and speeds loading and unloading. They are already in use in the transit systems of other large cities, including Paris and Toronto.
