The Metropol Parasol in Seville is the largest wooden structure in the world. Designed by J. Mayer H. Architects, the monumental structure provides shade for Roman ruins, a museum, and businesses below its canopy, while pedestrians can walk along rooftop promenades. Photos don’t do it justice–this aerial video of the Metropol Parasol by giraldatv gives a sense of its scale (you’ll want to mute the audio, which consists of seven minutes of droning helicopter motor.)
