Maya Angelou (1928-2014), Legendary Poet, Author and Civil Rights Activist

Maya Angelou

Legendary poet, author and civil rights activist Maya Angelou, whose stunning 1969 autobiography, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings told the gritty story of growing up black in the deep south, passed away at her home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina due to failing heath concerns. She was 86 years old.

Rest in Peace Ms. Angelou. Your beautiful voice will be missed.
