Double Fine Productions — the creators of Psychonauts, Brütal Legend, and the Kickstarter-funded Broken Age — has launched a new Kickstarter campaign to fund a turn-based tactics video game called Massive Chalice. Double Fine says the team was inspired by classic tactical strategy games like X-COM, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Fire Emblem, as well as noble families from HBO’s Game of Thrones. Using these sources of inspiration, Massive Chalice will be a turn-based tactics game set in a feudal fantasy world in which players train generations of heroes to fight an invasion of demons. “As an immortal King or Queen, you must unite your kingdom under a powerful dynasty, eliminate the demonic threat, and reforge the MASSIVE CHALICE!” The project is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, and Double Fine Productions hopes to release the game in September 2014.
