Martin Cooper, Inventor of the Cell Phone on ‘PBS Inventors’

Martin Cooper, the inventor of the cell phone, is the subject of an interesting episode of PBS Inventors by photographer David Friedman. Cooper’s invention is now 40 years old as he conceived the phone while working for Motorola in 1973. It took a further ten years of development to bring the first cell phone to market, the iconic Motorola DynaTAC.

Forty years ago this month, Martin Cooper placed the first ever cell phone call. In this video he looks back on his invention and explains that cell phones have a long way to go before they reach their potential.
