Marine Scientists Create 3D Maps of Coral Reefs to Help Preserve Them

Marine scientists with the group Hydrous are creating 3D maps of coral reefs to better understand and preserve them. The group was founded by marine biologist Sly Lee, and they have developed a software system with Tatjana Dzambazova from software company Autodesk to process the 3D images and to make them available for study and even 3D printing.

Wired produced a video detailing the work Hydrous is doing that features interviews with Lee and Dzambazova and beautiful underwater photography.
