Long Beach Free Store, A New Give-Away Shop In Southern California

With the motto “Share what you have, find what you need“, the new give-away shop, the Long Beach Free Store, opened August 14, 2011 to an eager and thrifty crowd. Everything is free in this volunteer-run brick and mortar storefront located in Long Beach, California. Patrons are encouraged to donate clean items in good condition, though donations are not necessary to ‘shop’ here. Anyone can come and take what they like without any sort of trade.

The Long Beach Free Store is a project of the grassroots nonprofit, Catalyst Network of Communities, and opened to promote sharing and community building. While the items in the store are free, they are taking monetary donations to help defer the costs of rent, utilities and store fixtures to keep the store open.
