KQED’s ‘Deep Look’ Explores Banana Slugs and the Many Functions of Slug Slime

In their latest episode, the KQED science series Deep Look explores the world of banana slugs, the giant yellow slugs that populate the forests of the West Coast of North America from Santa Cruz, California, to Southeastern Alaska. As the episode explains, the slugs’ “slime,” or mucus, performs a variety of critical functions, including attracting water and protecting the creatures from predators.
