Kinetic Blocks, A Pin-Based Shape Display Capable of Manipulating Objects and Building Structures Created by MIT

Kinetic Blocks is a pin-based shape display capable of manipulating objects and building structures. The display was created by the MIT Tangible Media Group led by professor Hiroshi Ishii, and it can be used in a number of ways demonstrated in a paper published by the group.

Besides its display elements, the device can also be used for input to read the location and orientation of objects, opening it up to a variety of potential interactive uses that the Tangible Media Group has only begun to explore.
