Julian Cash & The Aurora Light Painters on America’s Got Talent

The Aurora Light Painters are a troupe that performs a new type of light painting, a creative photographic technique that paints moving light in the dark and tells a story with beautiful projected images. This innovative form of photography is the brainchild of our friend, portrait photographer Julian Cash. You may remember that in 2008, Julian created light painting portraits at the Laughing Squid Lucky 13 event. In 2011, we posted about his gorgeous coffee table photography book titled The People Of Burning Man.

The troupe recently got the opportunity to travel to Austin, Texas to audition for the television show America’s Got Talent. In this clip from tonight’s show, watch them impress the judges: Howard Stern, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel. The Aurora Light Painters will be moving on to Las Vegas rounds to compete for a $1 million grand prize and a chance to headline a Vegas show. Good luck!

From the Aurora Light Painters page on Facebook:

Aurora Light Painters is a new artistic collaboration born from a combination of photography, animation & video techniques. It is an extension of traditional light painting but instead of using an open shutter of a still camera, it uses a system to create a totally unique live interaction where everyone can see the image as it’s being created.
