Internet Service Finally Coming To Some US Airlines

Mood lighting

This is great news, according to the New York Times, several US airlines, including American Airlines, Alaska Airlines and Virgin America, will begin testing in-flight internet service on their planes in the next few months. The estimated price of the future service will be around $10 per flight. According to the article, the carries will not allow internet-based phone calls to be made through the service they offer.

Kicking things off, this Tuesday JetBlue will start offering limited internet access in the form of email and instant messaging via Yahoo, with bandwidth provided by LiveTV (the same service that currently provides DirecTV and XM Radio access).
