‘Inferno’, A Filmmaker Uses a 48-Camera Array to Capture Breathtaking ‘Bullet Time’ Displays of Fire Breathing

In “Inferno” director of photography Mitch Martinez used a 48-DSLR camera array to record some breathtaking displays of fire breathing from performers Mike Icon and Terry Lee Fields II in “bullet time” style.

The effect, popularized by The Matrix series, gives the illusion that time is frozen as the perspective of the camera moves around the subject.
