In the heartwarming photo project “If only for a second,” Belgian cancer charity the Mimi Foundation sought to relieve cancer patients of their worries by surprising them with hilariously bad makeovers. In the project’s first phase, 20 patients were taken to a studio and asked to keep their eyes closed as hair and makeup artists gave them makeovers. They were placed in front of a two-way mirror and allowed to open their eyes at the last moment. Each person’s reaction—of astonishment, laughter, and everything in between—was then captured by photographer Vincent Dixon. The photos were unveiled at a photo exhibition in November and a photo book is available from the Foundation. The project was created in collaboration with ad agency Leo Burnett France.
