Hyper Matrix, Giant Analog Display Made of Thousands of Foam Blocks

The installation “Hyper Matrix” is a large scale display in which thousands of styrofoam blocks act as pixels (video). The 11 inch foam cubes are mounted to actuators that move them forward and back, creating patterns across the three-sided display (see the making-of video for more). “Hyper Matrix” was created by Seoul-based media art group Jonpasang for the Hyundai Motor Group Exhibition Pavilion at this summer’s Expo 2012 Yeosu in South Korea.
