High Voltage Image Making, A Photography Project Exploring the Use of Electrical Discharge to Create Images

High Voltage Image Making is a photography project by artist Phillip Stearns that explores the use of electrical discharge in creating interesting images. In a process developed over the last year, Stearns uses around 15,000 volts to create interesting images using instant film. The project has an ongoing Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.

Through the application of high voltage and various chemical agents, this project explores and extends the expressive capacity of instant photographic film technology beyond its ability to capture images of the world. These treatments approach the film technology as a recording media, capable of creating images from physical, electrical, and chemical transformations.
