Haunting Drone Footage That Contrasts a Tilting Manhattan Skyline With Headstones in a Cemetery

Filmmakers Tim Sessler of Brooklyn Aerials and Brandon Bray of Decade collaborated to create “Balance”, a haunting short film that contrasts tilting drone footage of the New York City skyline with an old cemetery sitting across the water, creating a skyline of its own.

We humans we create, we work, we stay busy from birth to death and never rest. We build, aim higher, work harder, accomplish more, and to what end? “Balance” takes an abstract look at our modern world, the full and the empty spaces and time in which we live and choose to make our lives.

The footage was shot with a FREEFLY Alta 8 octocopter, which can fly higher than its previous iteration.

The ALTA 8 is the octocopter version of the previously extremely popular ALTA 6 hexacopter. The two additional motors allow for higher payloads, which means that the ALTA can reliably lift a RED CF Weapon or ALEXA MINI with bigger cinema lenses and a total payload of nearly 20lbs.

Brooklyn Aerials also provided behind-the-scenes footage from the project.
