“I’m not fucking Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers!”
During the 2012 iHeartRadio Music Festival, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong learned that their set had been cut short, from 45 minutes to 25 minutes (apparently, to allow more time for Usher to play). Watch in this video (uploaded by xClandestinex) as Armstrong stops in the middle of the song “Basket Case”, expresses his extreme dissatisfaction with the situation (“I’m going to play a fucking new song. Give me a fucking break…one minute?! Look at that fucking sign right there, one minute left…”) and begins smashing his guitar.
A statement from the Green Day website (9/23/2012):
Billie Joe is seeking treatment for substance abuse. We would like everyone to know that our set was not cut short by Clear Channel and to apologize to those we offended at the iHeartRadio Festival in Las Vegas. We regretfully must postpone some of our upcoming promotional appearances.
