Garrick Utley (1939-2014)

Garrick Utley, former news anchor and foreign correspondent, died on February 20, 2014 at the age of 74 at his home in New York City. He is survived by his wife Gertje.

Over the years, Mr. Utley covered such extraordinary stories as the Warsaw Pact Invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, the 1973 Yom Kippur War in 1973, the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and co-anchored the September 11 attacks in 2001. He also hosted the show “Meet the Press” and subbed in for Tom Brokaw on the “NBC Nightly News” many times. After he retired from television, Mr. Utley taugh Journalism at the State University of New York at Oswego.
