Empire State Building Light Show Honors Famous Artworks From the Whitney Museum Collection

As part of the May 1, 2015 opening celebration for the new Whitney Museum building in Manhattan, the Empire State Building was illuminated in a light show inspired by famous works from the Whitney’s collection. The light show, created by artist Marc Brickman, referenced the color palettes of works by Andy Warhol, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Mark Rothko, among others.
