Director David Lynch Drops Out of Showtime Reboot of ‘Twin Peaks’ Over Budget Concerns

Director David Lynch

On April 5, 2015, director David Lynch took to his Twitter account to address rumors that Showtime had pulled the plug on the reboot of his cult-classic television series Twin Peaks. The truth, as Lynch explained it, is that “Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime,” but Lynch left the project over budgetary concerns. He stated that the proposed budget was not enough, “to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done.”

The reboot was announced in October, 2014 and since that time Lynch and the show’s co-creator Mark Frost have already written the reboot’s nine-episode run.
