Demolishing a Skyscraper from the Inside

Japanese building company Taisei Corporation has developed a novel method for demolishing buildings in excess of 325 feet tall—by disassembling them from the inside. The intriguingly named Taisei Ecological Reproduction System (Tecorep) involves enclosing the top of the building in a temporary work structure and then disassembling the building floor by floor. The building’s original roof is kept in place to keep noise and dust under control.
