Delightfully Unsettling Portrait Photos Inspired by Renaissance Portraiture

In his 2010 photo series 1503, photographer Christian Tagliavini recreates 16th century Renaissance portraits in eerie stylized images. Tagliavini spent six months painstakingly handcrafting all the costumes, including the rather elaborate hats. The models’ curiously long necks were achieved through deft photo manipulation.
