HavenCo — a data security company originally based in the micronation of Sealand on a 6,000-square foot, World War II-era anti-aircraft platform seven miles off the British Coast — has relaunched following its first failure in the early 2000s. HavenCo 2.0 aims to “bring the best security and privacy-enhancing services to the market” using virtual private networks (VPNs), Least-Authority File System (LAFS) storage, web proxies, and encryption keys. This time, HavenCo’s servers will be located in the United States and the European Union while encryption keys and other offline data will be stored in Sealand.
