This video from 2012 shows Cosmo the baby monkey swimming in the bathtub for the very first time.
We have been giving Cosmo weekly baths since he was 2 weeks old. Up to this point he would only wade in shallow water. He finally had the confidence to step in deeper and realized he could swim. After we dropped in a few treats he started diving.
Macaques are good swimmers and enjoy the water. When Cosmo is old enough to go out in his outdoor enclosure he will be able to swim whenever he wants in his own diving pool.
A few months later, Cosmo was indeed swimming and playing in the family pool with his canine friend.
