Copenhagen Wheel, A Bike Wheel With a Built-In Powered Pedal Assist System

The Copenhagen Wheel Pedal Assist

The Copenhagen Wheel is a powered pedal assist system that is integrated into a bicycle wheel and can be fitted to most bikes. The battery-operated system can adjust its power assist automatically, based on pedaling effort, or it can be controlled with the companion smartphone app. The system has a maximum range of 30 miles and tops out at 20 MPH. The Copenhagen Wheel was designed by MIT’s SENSEable City Lab and is being built in Cambridge, Massachusetts by Superpedestrian. It is available for pre-order. We recently posted about a similar pedal assist system, the FlyKly Smart Wheel.
