Classical Portraits of the Hermitage Cats

Classical cat portraits

These fantastic portraits of cats in the style of classical oil paintings were created by artist Eldar Zakirov. The digital illustrations depict the cats as members of the Russian imperial household—cats did indeed inhabit the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg starting in the 18th century. They still live in the palace, which is now part of the Hermitage Museum. Zakirov made the series for Hermitage Magazine.
