Chainsaw Robot Carves 3 Stacking Stools out of a Block of Wood

The 7Xstool is a set of three stacking stools that is carved from a single block of wood by an industrial robot equipped with a chainsaw. The impressive feat is part of a collaboration between German retailer Echtwald and Kkaarrlls, a design collection created by students from the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. The 7Xstool was designed by Tibor Weissmahr and the robot was programmed by Tom Pawlofsky. The stools were manufactured by the robot before a live audience at the 2013 Passagen Interior Design Week Cologne in January.
