Casey Kasem, (1932-2014), Legendary DJ and the Singular Voice of ‘American Top 40’

Casey Kasem

Casey Kasem, the singular voice of the immensely popular syndicated weekly top-40 pop music countdown show American Top 40 and the distinctive voice of Norville “Shaggy” Rogers from the long-running animated series, Scooby-Doo, died on Sunday, June 15, 2014 after a long and often painful battle with Lewy body dementia at his home in Gig Harbor, Washington. He was 82 years old.

Mr. Kasem’s daughter Kerri posted a picture of her Dad on Facebook with this statement:

Early this Father’s Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends. Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our Dad.

With love, Kerri, Mike and Julie.
