C. G. P. Grey on the Many Curiosities of the U.S.–Canada Border

In part 2 of his series on bizarre borders, C. G. P. Grey looks at the many curiosities of the United States–Canada border. Among the oddities: the “border vista,” a 20-foot-wide cleared buffer zone that runs the entire length of the border (except water borders of course), and a variety of deviations along the supposedly straight border caused by primitive maps and surveying during the border’s establishment. Part 1 of the series looks at countries that are completely surrounded by another country or have only one neighbor.
