Robotics company Boston Dynamics (previously) has unveiled Spot, a highly mobile four-legged robot about the size of a large dog. Spot is electrically powered, which allows it to operate indoors–its bigger siblings BigDog and LS3 run on gas-powered engines. As Boston Dynamics’ video illustrates, Spot can run at a jogging pace, climb stairs, walk off-road, and maintain balance when kicked by its uncharitable human overseers. Spot weighs about 160 pounds (BigDog by comparison weighs 240 pounds.)
