Bebo Shuts Down and Announces Redesign

Bebo Shuts Down

Bebo founders Michael Birch and Xochi Birch bought their social network back — after it was sold first to AOL and then to Criterion Capital — and announced that they have shut down the site to “start fresh and build a new Bebo”.

Birch promises that all users’ photos and blog posts are safe and that users can sign up to be notified when their content is available for download “in a few months.” Though there’s currently no timeline for when the redesigned Bebo will reopen or what features are being developed, Birch says “no matter what changes we make, Bebo will always be a place where you can be yourself, have fun, and connect with friends.”
